Learning to self feed

We are now trying to teach Hailey how to feed herself. She really loves to eat the biter biscuits but when we try to get her to eat cheerios she will just play with them and throw them on the floor. Brandi is loving this stage, she waits by Hailey's high chair for food to fall and then gobbles it up. Hailey was so cute today, she kept trying to rub her eye but had the biscuit in her hand so she ended up with biscuit in her eye and hair and all over her face. This is such a fun age to see her be able to start doing things for herself and becoming more independent

Stone Cold Hailey

Hailey has always been such a serious baby. At home with us she is smiling and happy, but when she is in a new environment or around people she doesn't know she gets the most serious look on her face so Mike and I have given her the nickname stone cold Hailey. She is just a very curious baby and there is so much to see in the world. This picture cracks me up because most babies get excited to see bubbles and smile, but Hailey has the most serious look on her face, trying to figure out just what in the world they are.

6 months going on 16

Hailey has been trying to grab cups from me when I drink for the past few weeks, so we finally decided to let her try drinking out of it since she seemed so interested. She loved it! Now she thinks she is such a big girl and always wants to drink from our cup. She has just been drinking water out of the cup and I was hoping that we found a new way for her to drink formula, but no such luck! She didn't wan't any part of it. I'm sure many of you know of the challenges we have had to get Hailey to drink formula. She just doesn't like it at all, we have tried bottles, sippy cups and now cups but in the end we usually end up having to syringe it in. Oh well only 5 more months before she doesn't have to drink it anymore!

First day at the pool

Our community pool opened this weekend so we thought we would get Hailey all dressed up in her sexy little bikini and take her for a dip in the pool. The process of getting ready to go was enough to convince me that we will not be making too many trips to the pool this summer. Just getting her coated with sunscreen was a huge task and she did not like it one bit! So we finally got her ready and headed out only to find the water was freezing! We decided to let her get in anyways and she didn't even object to the cold water. She didn't cry, but she also didn't seem too excited. I think she wasn't sure what to think of it all. We only ended up staying about 20 minutes but it was enough to get some cute photos. Once the pool warms up a bit we will try taking her out again and hopefully get some smiles out of her!

Another Milestone

Hailey is growing up so fast! She is now able to stand on her own if she is holding onto something. The other morning she was sitting next to me and I looked over and she was standing! She had grabbed onto her chair and pulled herself up, I couldn't believe it! Now she tries desperately all day to pull herself up but she is having trouble finding objects that are the right height and stable enough to pull on. She usually ends up turning to me and pulling up on my hands. She has also recently starting reaching out if she wants to be held. This is so precious to me. I love that she can express that she wants us by doing something other than cry!

Daddy's little girl

I always knew that mike was going to be a great father even before Hailey was born. Kids have always been drawn to him, I guess because he is just a big kid at heart. He is so good at getting Hailey to laugh and smile and even though he only has a few hours to spend with her before bed he makes the most of them. These are some of my favorite pictures where he eats Hailey like a watermelon and I thought this was just such a sweet picture of the two of them. Hailey is so lucky to have such an amazing dad!

Like Mother, Like Daughter

Hailey is really starting to fall in love with Brandi. She is always smiling and laughing when she sees her and will watch her from across the room. Unfortunately, the feeling isn't mutual and Brandi does not appreciate the pinches and hair pulls but she has been a good sport and usually just runs when Hailey reaches for her. I have always been a huge animal lover and some of my earliest childhood memories are of our pets. I am so glad that we have Brandi so Hailey can fall in love with animals like I did.

The joys of feeding time

Hailey has discovered that she can spit so you can imagine how much fun feeding time is when she decides she doesn't like something. She was eating peas today and realized that she doesn't like them so they ended up all over her and me. You can see from her expression that she thinks it is hilarious to spit all over her mommy.

Hailey meets Clayton

Tina and Clayton came to visit us from Salt Lake City this week. It was so cute to see Hailey and Clayton together. I really saw the difference between girls and boys. Hailey would gently reach out for Clayton and he would grab her hair and pinch her face. They did good together and were good sports as we dragged them to the mall, out to lunch and the 2 hours we spent getting their portraits done. We were sad to see them leave but hopefully we will be going out in September to visit.
