Hailey turns One!

Can you believe it has already been a year since Hailey was born? I still can't believe I have a one year old! We had a good time celebrating her birthday with two different parties. We had the first celebration with some of our friends from Gymboree class. I was surprised that Hailey got overwhelmed having people over at our house but after about an hour she finally got used to having her friends over. I decided to be adventurous and make her cake and I think it turned out pretty good, although she refused to eat it and only touched the frosting then wanted me to wipe her hands. Of course I was a bit dissapointed that I couldn't get the classic picture of birthday cake smeared all over, but let's face it we have a serious baby!

Next came the celebration in Virginia with Mike's family. His brother and sister flew in from Denver for the occasion, and we had most of Mike's cousins and aunts and uncles there. Hailey did very well with all the people around and even let almost anyone hold her. She refused to touch the birthday cake though, I think there were just too many people staring at her! We had a great trip and it was so fun to celebrate her birthday with family!

Grandma Visits!

My mom and brother Chase came out for a visit last week, and I have to say it is so nice to have help with Hailey for a few days. I am so jealous of people who live by their families! Hailey warmed up to them almost immediately and she just adored them. My mom is so good with her and Hailey loved reading books and playing with her. On Saturday we went to the Discovery Zone and saw the BodyWorld exhibit. If your not familiar with BodyWorld it is real people who donated their bodies and they are posed with different muscles or nerves exposed and all the skin is removed. It was pretty cool and Hailey actually did really good there. They also had a childrens area and she really enjoyed playing in the water and with the toys. We were sad to see them go but hopefully it won't be too long before their next visit!

New milestones again!

Wow has it really been that long since my last post. I have been so busy with Hailey lately, she has had a lot of changes these past few weeks. She has finally discovered her mischevious side. She is no longer interested in toys and would much rather explore cabinets or unroll all the toilet paper. Her new favorite place to play is outside in the mulch. She just loves picking up all the wood chips and sprinkling them all over the driveway. She will sit there for 20-30 minutes just taking the wood chips out and handing them to me and if I try and take her inside before she is done she throws a fit. Unfortunatley she also likes to taste the mulch so I have to keep a close eye on her.

The most exciting milestone is that she has just learned how to stand up. It is just amazing to see her just bend over then stand right up. I just keep thinking she's not a baby anymore! She hasn't been brave enough to take more than 3-4 steps but I'm sure in no time she will be running all over the house!

Hailey is still dancing away to music and I really hope she never stops! It is just the most adorable thing to watch. She has also starting talking (not words) so much. She has always been more on the quiet side, but these past few weeks she is just blabbering away. My favorite thing is she loves to give kisses now. Not to me or mike, but to her dolls and puppets and even pictures in books. It just cracks us up and I think she really has such a sweet nature. Hailey is also really good at sharing. Whenever she is eating snack she always has to offer some to mike and I or to Brandi, which she loves
